Trauma & PTSD

What is Trauma?

Trauma is any event that changes you;

Whether this creates a sense of feeling uneasy, or causes serious disturbance in your daily functioning, your experience should not be dismissed.

What is PTSD?

PTSD stands for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, a mental health condition that can develop after a person experiences or witnesses a traumatic event.

Symptoms may include intrusive memories, avoidance of trauma-related triggers, negative changes in thinking and mood, and heightened arousal or reactivity, and these must last for more than a month and cause significant distress or problems in daily life for a diagnosis

WHY THERAPY?

Trauma interventions are designed to reduce suffering and the intensity/frequency of symptoms that occur. Therapy also addresses co-morbidities that can arise with traumatic events and PTSD.
